PROGRESSIVE SEQUENCE
KILN-CASTING A LEAD CRYSTAL SKULL
STARTING WITH A LIFE SIZE WAX SKULL
Directly out of the rubber mold and fettling yet to do prior to encasing in plaster.
Small spots to fill and seams to to dress back.
Sprue to be cut off and relocated to facilitate the easy flow of molten glass.
LIFE SIZED SKULL SPRUED AND READY TO INVEST IN PLASTER
Fettled and dressed the skull is mounted on the sprue base which will fit and support the terracotta reservoir.
An electric, adjustable heat controlled, soldering iron is used to fuse the wax joins.
Both waxes dressed smooth and mounted on their respective sprues.

PLASTERING FOR LOST WAX CASTING
Brushing on the initial coat of plaster ensuring no bubbles are left on the surface of the wax.
Meticulous attention given to the whole wax surface.
Building up with multi coats of the plaster mix.
Again, intense focus to eliminate air trapped on the wax as the preliminary first coat of casting plaster is applied.

Hello, I was wondering if you sold any of your molds? I am just starting out in Aluminum green sand casting and would love to purchase a skull mold from you.
Thanks
Matt
Hi, The mold making process was self taught over a number of years as requirements dictated. The process is not that complicated, just time consuming. However once assimilated there is a tremendous freedom with future projects. These skull molds have been made for lost wax, hollow, ceramic shell casting and or solid glass, kiln casting. Your request indicates you are looking at sand casting which is inappropriate for these patterns.
Regret not being able to help more.
